Following an evening meeting at the 2005 Tamarisk Symposium in Grand Junction, Colorado, several of us came to the conclusion that we needed a separate research meeting to summarize the state of tamarisk science and to forge links between the diverse disciplines that are addressing this species. With the encouragement of the Tamarisk Coalition and the Center for Invasive Plant Management, 13 of us got together to plan for such a meeting. It is our hope that this will become a biennial research conference hosted by a different institution each year. The planning committee for this initial meeting was: Cynthia Brown — Department of Bioagricultural Sciences and Pest Management, Colorado State University Tim Carlson — The Tamarisk Coalition Tom Holtzer — Department of Bioagricultural Sciences and Pest Management, Colorado State University Mara Johnson — Center for Invasive Plant Management Eric Lane — State Weed Coordinator, Colorado Department of Agriculture Dave Merritt — Stream Systems Technology Center, USFS Rocky Mountain Research Station and NREL, Colorado State University Scott Nissen — Department of Bioagricultural Sciences and Pest Management, Colorado State University Andrew Norton — Department of Bioagricultural Sciences and Pest Management, Colorado State University Dale Shaner — Water Management Research Unit, USDA-ARS-NPA Anna Sher — Department of Biological Sciences, University of Denver and Department of Research, Herbaria & Records Denver Botanic Gardens Pat Shafroth — Ecosystem Dynamics, Fort Collins Science Center, USGS Tom Stohlgren — Invasive Species Science, Rocky Mountain Research Group, USGS and NREL, Colorado State University Phil Westra — Department of Bioagricultural Sciences and Pest Management, Colorado State University |
