About Weeds Across Borders

Weeds Across Borders (WAB) began in 2002 with a conference in Tucson, Arizona. Organized by FICMNEW, the partnership of United States federal agencies, the conference sought to address the problem of weeds from an expanded, continental perspective. It emphasized that because weeds do not abide by political boundaries, extended cooperation and new partnerships are necessary. The success of the first conference was thus translated into a biennial conference that strives to advance the formation of partnerships, sharing of information, and coordination of programs that transcend traditional jurisdictional borders. In the years since its inception, Weeds Across Borders conferences have been held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States and have attracted participants and presenters from across each nation.
